Borsippa (Birs Nimrud)

برس نمرود (بورسيبا)

BabyloniaBabil

Borsippa was the city of Nabu, god of writing and wisdom and son of Marduk, with his temple, the Ezida, and a ziggurat restored by Nebuchadnezzar II.

Many travellers took it for the biblical Tower of Babel, and its summit still carries a mass of brick fused by intense heat.
